| Keep moving without dodge rolling or being hit to generate a kinetic aura which can be unleashed by dodge rolling into enemies.
In a bygone era of the Gungeon, misguided scarcity created situations where throwing a firearm as a last-resort weapon seemed viable. In modern, sensible, times, denizens of the Gungeon have come to understand that throwing a gun is awkward and pointless. So useless was the Ruby Bracelet in its previous form that the Gunsmith melted it down and reforged it. | |
Ruby Bracelet is a passive item.
If the player has the Ruby Bracelet and talks to the Blacksmith, she will tell the player that this was the first item she made and how she always hated it. She will then offer to upgrade the item into a better version.
Effects[]
Pre-Upgrade[]
- Thrown guns will explode, dealing 30 damage to all nearby enemies.
- Guns can be thrown by holding the fire button with an empty gun equipped.
- Guns that explode will not be lost.
- Remember to retrieve thrown weapons before leaving, as they will be stolen by the Resourceful Rat.
Post-Upgrade[]
In addition to its previous effects:
- Grants the ability to charge a roll by moving constantly without rolling or taking damage for 4 seconds, indicated by a pink aura. Charged rolls deal 300 damage.
- Grants immunity to contact damage.
Notes[]
Alternative Rock - If the player has Face Melter, instead of firing four streams, Face Melter fires two parallel columns of notes. Reloading fires a guitar pick with a chance to stun.
Backdraft - If the player has Armor of Thorns, touching enemies sets them on fire.
Ruby Carbine - If the player has Hegemony Carbine, its shots bounce and light enemies on fire.
Saved the Best for Last - If the player has Hip Holster, shots fired by Hip Holster explode.- When playing as The Paradox, the player can get the upgraded version of the Ruby Bracelet as a starting item.
Pre-Upgrade Effect Notes[]
- The explosion effect does not apply to the gun that Slinger throws upon reloading, nor does it apply to the regular shots of the Banana.
- Thrown guns will be lost if thrown into a pit.
Post-Upgrade Effect Notes[]
- Charged rolls are still modified by items that modify the regular dodge roll, though possibly not by damage multipliers such as Live Ammo.
- Only the first half of your dodge roll (the part where you're immune to enemy projectiles) benefits from the charge.
- After you acquire the charge, dodge rolling without hitting anyone maintains it. Only the following "discharge" your charged-up rolls:
- Taking damage
- Stopping your movement
- Suddenly moving backwards (since this has you very briefly stop moving)
- Dealing damage with a dodge roll (even if the charge bonus isn't applied)
Trivia[]
- The Ruby Bracelet is a vestige of the game's early development, as its upgraded description and its history with the Blacksmith allude to. There are other fully-coded items that would also modify thrown guns, such as the Ring of Giant Strength and notably the Emerald Bracelet, which were presumably pulled from the game when the mechanic was reevaluated.
- The Blacksmith still hates the Ruby Bracelet after its reforging, or at least feels some remorse for having changed it.
