Ammonomicon Ammoconda

Shell Serpent
The Ammoconda is composed of segments, each capable of firing independently.

Ravenously hungry, this snake of shells grows in length and power as it consumes.

Ammoconda is a boss found in the Gungeon Proper.

Behavior[]

The Ammoconda will constantly slither around the room, usually towards the player. It has many attacks, and all of its segments can perform these attacks at around the same time.

  • Fires bullets outwards.
  • Fires a burst of bullets in all directions.
  • Fires a waving line of bullets.
  • Fires a line of bullets in a cardinal direction that can make a 90 degree turn.
  • Briefly stops moving, then simultaneously fires a wavy bullet from every segment.

If one of the Ammoconda's segments takes enough damage, it will no longer be able to attack.

Small turrets will pop up periodically, which shoot triangular bullets at the player. These turrets can be destroyed. If the Ammoconda eats one, it will gain health and a temporary increase in movement speed. Even if they are not destroyed, damaging the turrets will decrease the amount of health that Ammoconda gains from eating them.
If the Ammoconda eats a turret, it will grow a new segment. New segments always appear directly behind the head.

Notes[]

  • The Ammoconda is immune to electrified water; however, the turrets spawned are vulnerable.
  • After eating a tower, the Ammoconda has a very low chance of growing a golden segment.

Trivia[]

  • The Ammoconda gaining health from eating things and growing new segments (as well as the bullet line attack) is in reference to the game Snake.
  • The Ammoconda can grow indefinitely.
  • Bowler says: "...I wonder if I can stop the Ammoconda from showing up on RAINBOW RUNS!?!."
  • The Ammoconda is considered by many to be the most annoying boss in the game due to its somewhat random attack patterns, its ability to heal itself, and the earliness of its appearance compared to its difficulty.
    • This is made fun of in the physical copy of the Ammonomicon, where a doodle on the page of the Ammoconda's entry depicts it crying itself to sleep after being harassed by a mob of angry bullet kin.
    • It is also shown under the item Lies, where one bulletkin is telling another that they love the Ammoconda, implying that it's a lie.
